I am interested in "Egalitarian view" the author mentioned it in Chapter 6 ''Core Team Values". "Egalitarian" means everyone is equal and have a same right. "All organization have hierarchy", as the author said, historically there are always social position in human community whether it is the scale of big group or small group and, it is forced by strong force or weak force. In the Shakleton's ship also there are status difference, so Shakleton create the sense of equality "Egalitarian view".
I think the sense of quality is essential for group because if there are hierarchy, the group can not help and be open minded each other.
It reminds me of my high school life. When I was a member of kendo club, all member took a positive attitude for doing chores such as bringing a cup of water for the teacher after excersise and wiping the floor. At that time, the younger members have to work harder, however, I remembered the old members took a positive attitude faster than any other members. Thus the old mambers are seemed to be arrogant but the rule of equality is avoid being arrogant for the old members.
Therefore, The sense of equality is important to manage the group. This is because being generous is really difficult task for people. I also think what Shackleton did is respectable because he imploved the situation of group to take a positive attitude.
Hi, Mai
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I also think the sense of equality contributes to good team work. Also, I'm interested in the example of your club.
Hi Mai,
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the exact same thing that Haruka has already said.
So I will just say thanks for your post.
